The park is very large. Our site had lots of shade trees and a nice green grass. However, our site was the exception to the rule. The park never filled up and perhaps only 1/5 occupied during our two week stay. Great location for touring the area. Montrose is a small city with lots of large retail stores.

Durango RV Park, Durango, Colorado
Dates: June 23- July 6th, 2011
Durango RV Park is located right off Hwy 550. Upon arrival we were immediately marshaled into the smallest site we've ever had and right near the entrance. It was fortunate the owner was there to quickly guide us as the park is very tight with little room for moving a big rig.
Office and residents of the owners, Dawn and Cotton.
Our 36 ft. Carriage Cameo barely fits in the site. However, all of the sites appear to be small. I didn't like the utility hook-ups. The 50 amp outlet is so low to the ground that I couldn't use my Surge Guard and the sewer outlet is too close and uphill.
Site 24
Our site was too small to park either the truck or the Jeep so they are actually parked on the site next to us along with a horse buggy. Actually I didn't realize that there was a site next to us! The owners are very nice and said that parking in the adjacent site wasn't a problem. If an RV was in that site it would really be tight!
Overall, we were happy with our site even though it's close to the highway and a bit noisy. At least we had friends here and good views, which is to say we weren't looking at another RV out the windows. Also the price wasn't bad for Colorado at $150 a week. We stayed for two weeks which took us over the 4th of July when it's often hard to find a place. The altitude is close to 7K feet yet it still got to 90 in the later afternoon. Apparently there was a heat wave following us! Nights were expected to be in the 40's and 50's.

Dates:  July 14-20, 2011
Palisades Senior RV Park  is at the West end of the city limits of Gunnison. The park is a non-profit 55plus park. We have friends staying at the KOA which is only two miles away from Palisades so when I called Palisades last week I inquired about the 55 age requirement and was told that we were "close enough". Not sure if that was a good or bad thing!
We selected a nice back in site with a densely wooded view of Cottonwood Trees. We paid $190 for the week with full hook-ups and very good Wi-Fi.
The sites were a little tight but not bad. The park is only a few years old. The managers lived in the park and were very cordial. The park was very clean. At times, the Cottonwoods were releasing their cotton and the sky would be filled with the cottony puffs. The highs for the week were expected be in the low to mid 80's with the occasional afternoon shower. Lows in the upper 40's!
We enjoyed our stay and would return if in the area. It was easy to bike in and around town.
